About This Course

This course discusses the confidentiality of medical information as required by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and employees’ roles in protecting that information. It introduces learners to federal regulations establishing security and privacy rules for health care records, when Protected Health Information (PHI) may and may not be used or released, and potential penalties for unauthorized use or disclosure.

Skill-building scenario – These are realistic character-based scenarios with a description of the situation, usually 2-3 answer choices, and feedback for each answer choice. Learners generally must select the correct answer to proceed.
